OFAC screening implementation timeline
Start with a free same-day integration, then add scoring, governance, and auditing over the following weeks.
TL;DR
TL;DR: You can screen on day one with a free tier, wire screening into your payment path in week one on a paid plan, and add risk scoring, governance, and auditing within the first month.
Day one
Begin immediately with the free tier: 5 checks per day, no signup, no key. This is enough to test the API and check a handful of counterparties while you plan the full integration. The response is a simple ALLOW or BLOCK in under 100 ms, so there is no setup friction.
Week one
Move to the Dev plan ($19 per month for 10,000 checks) and wire screening into your actual payment path. Add the STAMP step so every decision is logged, and set up dispute_open so a flagged address has a review path. At this point screening runs on every real transaction.
Month one
- Enable risk_score for a risk view on borderline matches.
- Add kya_verify to document counterparties.
- Schedule periodic audits of past decisions.
- Train staff on what a match means and how to respond.
