OFAC screening monitoring setup
Monitoring means re-screening against an hourly-synced list and reviewing decisions, not a one-time check.
TL;DR
TL;DR: OFAC screening monitoring is an ongoing process: point your payment path at an hourly-synced list, re-screen counterparties on each transaction, log every decision, and review disputes.
Screening is not one-time
Designations change. A counterparty that was clean yesterday can be added to the SDN List today, so a single onboarding check is not enough. Monitoring means re-checking on every transaction against a list that is current, which is why the screening data is synced hourly rather than shipped as a static snapshot.
What to monitor
- Wallets: 947 OFAC-listed crypto wallets.
- Names: 19,218 SDN names from the US Treasury sdn.csv.
- Jurisdictions: 16 jurisdictions.
Setup steps
- Point the payment path at the screening API so every transaction is checked.
- Enable re-screening on each transfer, not just onboarding.
- Log every decision via the STAMP step for audit.
- Review flagged matches through dispute_open.
